I probably should have taken more of an active interest in the WikiLeaks story, but until now, I’ve been keeping abreast of the situation and not much more. With today’s news of Julian Assange walking from a CNN interview, my interest has been piqued.
This latest WikiLeaks news REEKS of media narrative. Thankfully, it seems that people are starting to sniff out the bullshit - as wacky as Assange may seem at times. From the line of questioning during the interview right down to the title of the video that CNN posted after the incident, it is painfully clear that CNN has a story THEY want to tell.
A couple of commenters on Huffington Post had especially insightful takes on the situation:
I sincerely hope that someone at CNN (or any mainstream media news outlet) grows a pair and covers the real story here. Should the general public have access to the types of documents that were leaked? Will this leaked information have real ramifications on the way the U.S government conducts business in the future? Getting to the bottom of these questions might not be as easy as the sensationalism of rape allegations or drama with former staffers, but THAT is the real story.
